Mr. Fundi Legohn

Fundi Legohn is an educator, musician, composer/arranger, father of five and since 1992, has served as the Performing Arts Director at Oxnard High School.
Mr. Legohn was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Cal State University Los Angeles, in 1981 and went on to obtain his Masters in Music from the University of Southern California, in 1991.
Over the years, Fundi has also worked as a studio musician, and has produced several live performances including a multitude of Los Angeles Community Festivals. Other notable career highlights include serving as the Staff Instructor for the Los Angeles Olympic Festival Band with the famous USC Trojan Band and the Radio City Music Hall Band in 1990. He has also performed in the African Percussion Ensemble for the 1994 World Cup Pre Game Show in Los Angeles. In 2013, he played his French horn for Rianna's performance at the American Music Awards.
In 1995, he was voted Oxnard High School’s Teacher of the year.
In 2011, Fundi was honored as Educator of the Year by El Concilio, an organization that services the underserved Latino community.
In 2013, he was awarded Music Teacher of the Year by 805's Got Talent.
Most recently he received the African American Achievement Award in the Arts & Entertainment category from California State University, Channel Islands.
The Oxnard High School Marching Band and Auxiliary is extremely fortunate to be directed by such an amazing, committed and dedicated advocate for the performing arts.
